We offer a variety of calling features to make your life easier at both home and work.
Inside Wire Maintenance is also available. This service protects your home when something goes wrong with customer-owned wiring. For instance, if anything goes wrong from the box outside the house to the jacks inside, Arvig will not charge for the trip out or the cost to fix in the wiring.

Automatic Return (Callback) will continuously dial a number, for 30 minutes, that you have called and received a busy. $1.50 per month. Start Code: *66, Stop Code: *86
Automatic Recall gives you the information of the last incoming call. This feature does not work if the calling party has their Caller ID blocked. $1.00 per month. Start Code: *69, Stop Code: *89
Speed Calling (short list) allows you to program 8 speed dial numbers to your line. $1.50 per month.
Three-Way Calling allows you to add a third party to an existing call. $2.95 per month.
To Add A Third Person To Your Call
1. Depress the switch hook for about one second to place the first call on hold.
2. Listen for the dial tone. Then, dial the third person.
3. When the third person answers, you may talk privately with this person before you make the call three-way.
4. To make the call three-way, depress the switch hook for about one second to add the person on hold. If the call to the third person is not completed or you decide not to add the third person to the call, depress the switch hook twice to resume your conversation with the person on hold.
To Disconnect
1. Press the switch hook for about one second to disconnect the third person, but stay connected to the original party.
2. If either of the other two people hangs up, you can continue to talk to the one remaining.
3. Hang up to disconnect all parties.
To Disconnect Completely
1. Simply hang up.
Call Forward - All Calls automatically forward all incoming calls to another number. $1.95 per month.
Call Waiting sounds a special tone when you are on the phone and you receive another call. $1.95 per month Cancel Call Waiting - use this when you want to make a call that you do not want interrupted by another incoming call.
Call Waiting ID Allows the customer to see, via your Caller ID display, who is calling before interrupting your current call. (Please note: this feature requires a Call Waiting capable display unit.) $1.00 per month, (this is in addition to the basic Call Waiting fee).
Selective Call Acceptance stop unwanted phone calls. This feature allows you to choose the calls you receive. $1.95 per month. Start Code: *64, Stop Code: *64.
Selective Call Forwarding receive special calls away from home. Forward selected calls to another number. Other calls are treated normally. $1.95 per month. Start Code: *63, Stop Code: *63.
Voicemail allows people to leave you a message when you are on the phone or if no one answers. Click here for instructions on how to access your Voicemail.
Voicemail (Basic) $4.95 per month, 15 message maximum, 40 minutes of voice storage, Voice message length, 2 minutes, 21 day message retention.
Voicemail (Enhanced) $5.95 per month, 30 message maximum, 90 minutes of voice storage, Voice meage length, 3 minutes, 28 day message retention.
Caller ID - Name & Number displays the name and number of the person calling. $5.50 per month.
Caller ID - Number displays the number of the person calling. $3.95 per month.
Call Tracing allows you to initiate a trace on the last call you have received, simply press *57 after receiving the call. $1.00 per use.
Teen Line assigns a second number to your line. When this number is called, it will ring with a distinctive ring. $4.00 per month.
Anonymous Call Rejection Allows you to reject calls from people who are blocking their caller IDs. No charge. Start Code: *77, Stop Code: *87
Selective Call Rejection Stop harassing phone calls. You can build a list of telephone numbers you do not to receive calls from. $2.95 per month. Start Code: *60, Stop Code: *60.
Selective Distinctive Ringing Answer only the calls you want. Allows you to develop a special list of telephone numbers that will have a special ring. $1.00 per month. Start Code: *61, Stop Code: *61.
Toll Restriction Plus with 800 Have a need to control who has access to make long distance calls? $2.50 per month.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NON-PUBLISHED AND NON-LISTED CUSTOMERS
Customers who have non-published or non-listed telephone numbers need to take note of these CLASS features. Because CLASS services work by transmitting the callers number on outgoing calls, your telephone number and name may be displayed to someone with a caller ID device. The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission rules require The Home Telephone Company to offer methods of preventing the transmission of a callers number and name without monthly fee. Please call our business office if you would like to sign up for this service or have questions.
Checking your messages is as easy as picking up your phone. If you have messages your home phone will have a stutter dial tone, this indicates a message is waiting for you.

Setting Up Your Voice Mail
Once you have ordered Voice Mail, simply pick up your phone and dial *98. The Voice Mail System will guide you all the way through and takes only a minute. It will be helpful to have your greeting ready, you will be
asked to record your message during the set up.
Voice Mail Key Pad Functions
Pressing 2 will allow you to rewind the last 3 seconds of the message being played.
Pressing 22 will allow you to rewind the entire message to the beginning.
Pressing 33 will allow you to fast forward to the end of your message.
Pressing 4 will take you to the HELP menu.
Pressing 5 will allow you to adjust the volume of your message while it is being played. After pressing key 5 use keys 1 through 9 to adjust the desired volume. 1 is the lowest and 9 is the highest volume.
