Arvig is a member of the Better Business BureauEstablished in 1950, Arvig has grown from the small, family-owned East Ottertail Telephone Company to one of the largest independent telecommunications providers in the nation. Like many family-owned businesses in Minnesota, an entrepreneurial spirit has driven the growth of the company. Over the past 63 years, the company’s leaders have been progressive risk-takers, delivering cutting-edge technology to residential and business customers in a growing number of rural communities throughout Minnesota.

The company’s roots are in Perham, Walker and Twin Valley, Minnesota. Today, Arvig’s service area has grown substantially to include many more Minnesota communities.
Arvig now provides telephone to nearly 66,000 customers, television to more than 24,000 customers and Internet to more than 36,300 customers, and has a service area that covers more than 9,000 square miles.

Arvig has been pursuing a strategy to diversify its lines of business and since 2009 has:
• Purchased Time Communications, a call answering business that serves customers in the United States and Canada.
• Expanded its utility construction business and now serves customers in the five-state region.
• Built an extensive fiber network that reaches from Moorhead to Hibbing in northern Minnesota and Rochester in the southeast corner of the state.
• Purchased All State Communications, a company specializing in structured cabling for information delivery—particularly data, voice, and building management systems.

As a community-based provider, Arvig takes pride in offering advanced communications services to customers that often exceed communications services available to metro-area customers. Arvig consistently reinvests in technology and network operations to continue to deliver next-generation communications services. Arvig is committed to keeping our fingers on the pulse of what area residents want and need to live, work and expand their businesses in rural Minnesota. Arvig currently provides these services:

• High-Speed Internet—up to 100Mb—and features like E-mail Filtering, Internet Security, Online Backup and more
• Television, including all the top channels, movie channels, HD service, DVR, Pay-Per-View and Stingray music

The Arvig team of more than 500 employee-owners is dedicated to serving the needs of our customers with dependable and progressive communications, information and entertainment services. The high level of quality and professionalism with which the company promotes, markets and sells Internet, television and phone service often exceeds the quality of many national communications companies.

Arvig became an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company in 2002 and 37% of Arvig is now employee-owned. The ESOP combined with our corporate mission and vision is what guides each employee daily as they serve their neighbors in every Arvig community.

Customers can visit any of the 20 Arvig stores located throughout our service area to learn about and test-drive the many communications and entertainment services available. More than 30 consultants are fully trained and able to demonstrate the services. It is rare to find that kind of customer care or service in any metro area, from any provider.

Connected To Customers
Our customers are our neighbors, friends and business partners; and they are the reason we continue to do business in rural Minnesota. That’s why Arvig reaches out to connect with rural Minnesota business and residential customers through a team of Communications Consultants. These trained professionals visit face-to-face with our customers to create a communications solution that meets their needs. We become partners with our businesses, to help them grow and prosper.

Communications Consultants also visit with residential customers as we construct new facilities to deliver an increasing variety of Internet, television and telephone services to a rapidly growing area. It is our vision to be the Best service provider anywhere! Arvig’s rural Minnesota customers are not left behind the digital divide, we are working hard to ensure they are well in front of it!

Our Communications Consultants live and work in the community in which they sell, participating in civic organizations and community groups, and building relationships with customers. Local stores serve as their base, as they partner with the retail consultants to serve as the face of our organization to our customers.

The Arvig business and commercial group is a team of certified professionals that sells, installs and maintains more than 1,150 telephone systems for businesses throughout  the region. Many of the new systems are VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) capable—another indication that the technology of the future is working in rural Minnesota.

A further connection to our customers is our team of Technicians—those who install, repair and maintain the services we provide to our customers. These Arvig employee-owners work with our customers daily, installing Internet, television and telephone services.

World-Class Service
Like any other successful communications service company, Arvig would not function without the many dedicated, talented and experienced support professionals that keep the Internet connection robust, redundant and reliable; the network of fiber, copper and coaxial cable maintained and functioning; and the digital telephone switch programmed and working.

Arvig customers can easily reach our Customer CARE Team by phone, at an Arvig store or via the Internet at our websitewww.arvig.com and through email at answers@arvig.com. Arvig has more than 25 Customer CARE professionals. Including a team of more than 15 customer service and repair/dispatch personnel who handle an average of 700 inbound calls each day.

Arvig Internet customers receive support, education and technical assistance from the Arvig Help Desk Team. Available 8 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week, this team receives exceptional customer feedback for their thorough and technically proficient handling of customer calls.

Customer calls are also answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our Network Operations Center and answering service. Non-emergency calls are handled the next business day and emergency calls are forwarded to oncall staff to be handled immediately.

The Arvig leadership and management team is comprised of individuals with strengths in their own specific area—Telephone, Television, Internet, IT, Marketing, Human Resources, and Finance—each participating in industry organizations as well as civic and community groups. Arvig takes pride in its more than 600 employee-owners, its history of employment longevity, and reputation as an excellent employer.

With our aggressive approach to digitizing our TV head end, and pursuing the implementation of Video Over DSL, Arvig also provides wholesale digital TV headend service to several other independent communications companies and some municipalities interested in offering this service to their customers.

Diversification On Multiple Levels
Arvig’s Construction Division supplies the boring, plowing, trenching, splicing, dozer work, backhoe work, and other construction needs for Arvig and other businesses throughout the region. Services are provided at competitive rates, with high-quality workmanship and experienced personnel.

Time Communications, Arvig’s call answering service, serves more than 1,400 clients such as medical practices, utility companies and private businesses. In addition to answering services, Time Communications also performs help desk services for consumer products, processes client company phone orders and much more. Arvig acquired Time Communications in 2009. Headquartered in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Time Communications, Inc. has been successfully serving clients for more than 40 years, providing high-quality answering and call center services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Time Communications employs a state-of-the-art system that allows
for a wide range of services from simply taking messages, to cultivating sales leads, to taking orders for small and large businesses.

Arvig offers security solutions for residential and commercial customers. With advanced technology and innovative ideas, the security team works to make sure our customer’s assets and personal wellbeing are protected from a variety of threats.

Arvig also meets the yellow pages advertising needs of businesses in markets throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa publishing 24 directories annually.
