Arvig Marks Digital Connectivity and Lifeline Awareness Week by Promoting Federal Assistance Options
As the costs of daily necessities continue to rise, it’s more important than ever for local residents to be aware of federal programs to help reduce the cost of essential phone and internet services.
In support of Digital Connectivity and Lifeline Awareness Week from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19, Arvig is joining the effort to spread the word about federal assistance programs that make reliable communication services more affordable.
Staying connected to local resources and emergency services can improve and possibly save lives; and access to local emergency services and community resources is vital to all residents. Lifeline provides discounts to help low-income residents connect to the nation’s broadband and phone networks to find jobs, access health care services, connect with family and call for help in an emergency. For some people, being connected can be the difference between social interaction and complete isolation.
Under the Lifeline program, low-income residents who participate in certain public assistance programs, or qualify based on income, can receive a discount of up to $9.25 per month off their monthly broadband-qualifying service bill; up to $5.25 off their voice-qualifying service bill; and residents on Tribal lands can qualify for up to $34.25 off per month.
